25 Days of Dupes 2021 – Day 8

Posted in Ink

Day 8’s ink is Raspberry Rose, a standard ink. None of the inks I swabbed was a perfect dupe, so I made my own custom mix (recipe below). If you have a suggestion for a possible dupe, let me know in the comments, and I’ll add it to the wrap up post.

Enjoy, and happy inking!

I know how to spell “raspberry,” I promise. My brain just decided to desert me as I was creating this swab page.

Day eight swabs. Comparing Diamine Raspberry Rose to Diamine Burgundy Royale, Robert Oster Aurstralian Syrah, Diamine Writer's Blood, and a Platinum Mixables custom mix.

Recipe for Custom Mix: 12 drops Platinum Mixable Flame Red, 16 drops Platinum Mixable Sunny Yellow, 2 drops Platinum Mixable Aurora Blue, 17 drops Platinum Mixable Silky Purple, and 25 drops of water. I used a pipette so I would have equal size drops. But you can substitute any measurement for drops (tsp, ml, etc.) depending on how much ink you want to make.

Day eight swabs at an angle

The large brush swab and horizontal writing sample in the center is the Inkvent ink. Below the Inkvent swab, I’ve swabbed each Dupe ink and included the ink name. All swabs were created with a small paintbrush, and all writing was with a Zebra G dip nib.

As a reminder, I can’t guarantee that the color you see on your screen will be true to life. However, with all the dupes on the same page, and scanned/photographed together, any differences in color will show equally across all of the inks. You’ll see how the colors look in relation to each other, which is the main point of these posts.

What do you think of today’s color? What do you think of the dupes? Is this one you’ll want to get later, or do you already have a dupe ink? Let me know in the comments.

I found Ferris Wheel Royal Rhubarb to be quite similar to Raspberry Rose, on Rhodia paper. Rhubarb might be slightly more brownish, and Raspberry slightly more purple, but under most lighting in my house, they were almost identical.
