Let’s start with the most important. What’s your most recent/next book, and where can we go to learn more about it and you?

Cover of I Am A.W.E.S.O.M.EI have written two books almost concurrently. The one I published first is One Minute to AmaZen: A Christian Guide to Yoga. The second is I Am A.W.E.S.O.M.E : A Personal Journey in True Self-Worth. Both books are available on Amazon.com and at the Word of Faith Love Center bookstore. One can go to my website, www.therealkimllc.com, for more information or read a review on Amazon or Goodreads. I can also be found on Facebook, and on Instagram/Twitter. I have recently begun a YouTube channel where individuals can see how to do the poses and receive health benefits of each pose. My YouTube channel is simply The Real KIM LLC.

What’s the question you most receive from your fans?

Cover of One Minute to Ama-ZenUsually, people ask me how did I come up with the concept of yoga and bible verses? People never really think that yoga can be practiced with Christianity. Once I explain how the book came to be and then lead a person through a pose, it makes perfect sense. People begin to understand and make the connection of while you are releasing stress you need to focus your mind on something. The word of God is very comforting and encouraging as well as inspiring. It only makes sense that if you are going to connect with God then you should focus and meditate on His word.

What one person would you most like to get your book(s) noticed by?

My books are so personal that when someone reads them, he/she is getting a glimpse into my life. I think my books would make a great segment for t.v. or as part of a live conference/class. I would like for my books to be seen by T.D. Jakes or Oprah Winfrey or Michelle Obama. I respect their messages and faith. They want people to be better beginning on the inside. This is what I attempt to encourage and inspire in others.

Do you drink coffee/tea? Do you find you drink more coffee/tea when you’re working on a book?

I love my morning coffee with flavored creamer and a nice herbal or detox tea in the evening is nice. I really don’t drink anything when I write however.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in researching your book?

While studying yoga, I was surprised to see all the principles and observances addressed in the bible. I saw verses in Old and New Testament addressing guiding principles and chakras. While in worship services, I could see specific poses as songs were sung or the word being preached. It just showed me and confirmed that God is everywhere and in everything. You only have to be open to His presence and spirit.

If you were an animal in a zoo, what would you be?

I would be a black panther. They hide but are very powerful and beautiful but don’t mess with them.

What is the best compliment you ever received?

The best compliment I received was from two people. One woman said as she read my books she could see herself in every line and it inspired her to do more and want more for herself. She actually began to cry. Her tears made want to cry because she no longer felt alone or isolated in her feelings and desires. When I began writing, I felt alone but I knew that I couldn’t be alone. There had to be more people like me who believed in God but hadn’t stepped into their promise yet.

My second favorite compliment came when another woman asked if it was okay that she would read the Amazen book and subconsciously say I am breathing in the Holy Spirit and exhaling the negative. She said it helped to calm her. She would do it in the car, at work, just about everywhere. I was thrilled. I want my books to be a starting point for people in their walk and relationship with God. I want people to find inspiration and encouragement as they deal with life and know that God is with them and wants only the best for their lives. To know that my book helped create more time for this woman and her relationship with God or that now she sees and practices devotion in a new way that goes beyond church services and “prayer” time, I’m thrilled and know God is in this.

What are you most nostalgic about from your childhood?

What am I most nostalgic about from childhood…that is a hard one. I miss playing racecars with my dad. I miss sitting on the front porch with Nannie drinking coffee during the summer (I was way too young for coffee). I miss waking up to mom singing You are my sunshine (though sometimes she tries to call and sing). I even miss picking blackberries and catching lightening bugs in grandma’s yard in Beckley, WV. Things were simple then. I felt loved in a way that can’t be explained. I have other good memories and times, but those are the ones I truly treasure.

What is the one question you’ve always wanted to be asked in an interview?

I think I would like for someone to ask what is it like as a Christian author. I would like for someone to ask what it is like to market yourself while being true to your faith and beliefs.
