Review

I’ve written about my first DNF, now I’m reviewing my first mistake. I honestly have no idea why I requested to review this book. About 1/4 of the way in, I realized the entire premise is a love triangle involving a cheating boyfriend. I went back to check the book blurb, thinking maybe it was misleading, but nope! So clearly I was off my rocker the day I requested Raindrops on Roses, because I don’t care for books like that.

I absolutely despised Amber, and her mother, Julie, both for what they are, and as characters. I never like the “crazy (ex) girlfriend” cliche, and this book was no exception. I feel like every time characters like Amber and Julie are utilized, no one knows how to help or deal with them, so they ultimately become a danger to themselves and others. There’s enough of that in the world already, I don’t want it in my books.

However, I will give credit to Ms. Black for a very well-written book. I didn’t notice any errors while reading it, and actually rather enjoyed the non-Amber chapters. I even considered picking up the next book in the series. If you enjoy love triangles, you’ll love this book, probably this entire series.
