A while back, a question was posted to the Facebook group Goulet Nation<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are there any pens that just are outside our reach but stay in our desired list even as we know we won’t get them?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I’m highly<\/em> fortunate to be able to purchase most pens I want, but there are definitely some that are outside of my reach. To be honest, even if I won the lottery, I don’t know that I’d buy these pens. I have a hard time imagining spending so much for a single item \u2014 big ticket items, like a house or car, excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

David Oscarson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

David Oscarson makes some truly amazing pens. One of my favorites is the Russian Imperial series, specifically the sky blue and sapphire versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taccia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taccia has some truly spectacular urushi art pens. The one I love most is the Miyabi Empress Fossils in the Sky in Sunset Peacock. I adore peacock feathers, and the colors and patterns on this beauty are absolutely fantastic. The Raden Shadow version is beautiful, too, but there’s something about the black, blue, and gold together on the Sunset Peacock that really does it for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Namiki<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The nib on the Namiki pens are my favorite gold nibs; smooth as butter and nice and wet. But that’s only part of my love of the Namiki Yukari Royale Frog. I love all the little details, like how the clip is a gradient from black to gold so it blends in better with the body design. I adore that the frogs are three-dimensional. It’s just an absolutely stunning pen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pelikan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pelikan releases a maki-e version of their M1000 yearly \u2014 I think. No surprise that I love the Peacock edition. But, perhaps even more amazing, is the Japanese Umbrella edition. I love the colors, and the bouquet of flowers near the barrel finial is fabulous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if you throw price out the window, this is a fairly modest list. But, with price factored in, well, I could cover mortgage payments for almost a year! Unless some magical deal drops into my lap, I won’t be purchasing any of these pens in my lifetime, but that’s OK. They are gorgeous and I can ogle them at pen shows for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
