This fun little pen has a mouthful of a name: Kitsune Converter Teal Enamel Ceracote Creepy Little Skulls<\/a>. It’s a heavy pen \u2014 after all, it’s made from copper \u2014 but sits well in the hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Shibui<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I was fortunate enough to go to the Autumn London Pen Show<\/a>, where Ruth Bolton<\/a> of Shibui North<\/a> was a vendor. I’ve been watching her feed, enjoying the various “creepy little skulls” pens she’s worked on. And, when I received my previous pen<\/a> from her, I almost chose one of the robin’s egg blue pens. So, having the two combined on this pen made it an easy choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kitsune Converter model opens at either end of the barrel and has an ink window about half-way down the barrel. I believe it is only available with a Bock nib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love how the pattern overlaps, with the skulls overlaid in several layers and sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nib has the same pattern, which is awesome. The laser engraving doesn’t seem to have made any difference to the nib function. I just wish it were possible to have a rose-gold-colored nib instead. The yellow-gold-colored nib is a bit jarring against the copper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although I have my converter twisted up, you can see there is plenty of space to see the ink level, and I appreciate the chamfered edge that eliminates any sharp corners around the window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, it’s simply a fun, well-executed pen, and I’m happy to add it to my collection. If the skull pattern isn’t for you, there are a couple of other patterns<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
