No matter how much I try to sample or test an ink before buying it, sometimes that isn’t possible. Because of this, I have some inks that are incredibly similar in color. That’s where “ink battles” come in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can assume I have no problems with any ink that appears in an ink battle. I may decide, when using the inks side-by-side, that one performs better, but the point of the battle is to choose a favorite color. I use a pair of similar inks in pens with the same nib, then test them out to see which I like better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, I may find out that, when used with the same nib, they’re sufficiently different to keep them both. Depending on how these “battles” turn out, I may tag some of the posts as ink dupes<\/a> as well. You can find all of the ink battles posts on the tag page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This ink battle is between Sailor Ink Studio 752 and Sailor x Tinter\u00edas Blue Corn . Both inks are in a pen with a Jowo #6 EF nib. The paper is a Rhodia Goalbook with white paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m not planning to get rid of either ink as a result of this ink battle. Instead, I’m comparing inks for those who are unable to get a hold of Blue Corn. I’m guessing<\/em> that at some point it will sell out, like Homemade Tortillas and Chipotle did, and won’t be restocked. <\/p>\n\n\n

Both inks are solid, with minimal shading \u2014 any darker and they’d be black inks. I specifically put them in EF nibs to allow some of the purple to show, rather than going down virtually black. I’d classify both inks as “off black,” or “sneaky black;” good for work, if you can’t use colorful inks, but don’t want to use black, blue-black, or gray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you enjoy playing with ink chromatography, like Jim, I’d suggest you get 752. But, if you have an attachment to the meaning behind Blue Corn, like I do, you might want to get that one before it’s gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
