OK, only partially different, but I couldn’t resist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My new pen collection rotation starts on Sunday, and I’m doing something significantly different than my previous rotations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past<\/a>, I’ve used a randomizer to go through my entire active collection, inking five pens each week. It’s been a great way to use my pens, but as my collection has grown, I’ve been using each individual pen less and less. I’m down to only twice a year. And sometimes I don’t get to use my pens much, which can mean I ink a pen and only use it to record work tasks for the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This time, in an effort to winnow down my collection without suffering seller’s remorse, I’m only including part of my active collection in the rotation \u2014 80, rather than all 130. Side note: those numbers don’t include the long-fill or always inked pens.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went through my active collection and included the pens I’m excited to ink up. Sometime between the time I’m writing this and Sunday afternoon, I’ll pick the pens for each week based on how much I want to use them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do this using Kanmido Coco Fusen small sticky notes so I can adjust the chosen rotation when I get new pens. I implemented the sticky note method half-way through my last rotation (see below) and it worked really well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My hope is that over the next few rotations, I’ll be able to comfortably retire or decide to sell 25-30% of my current active collection. I want to be able to use my pens more, and the only way to do that is to have a smaller active collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
