This post is inspired by Angelica Nyqvist<\/a>‘s video Products I Would Recommend To My WORST ENEMY… \ud83d\ude08<\/a>. In that video, they credit Kelly Gooch<\/a> and Kackie Reviews Beauty<\/a> with coming up with the idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In looking through my notes on blog post ideas, I almost discounted this one because I was certain<\/em> I’d already written it. But, there wasn’t a post on my blog, and I couldn’t find notes anywhere in my binders or a draft post. So, I’m finally writing this post I’ve been planning on for at least a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is, of course, all in fun. I thought it would be a good laugh. If you love any of the products mentioned, that’s great. It means you didn’t waste money like I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

For some reason, your worst enemy has come to you for stationery recommendations. Perhaps they don’t know you’re enemies. Perhaps you’re frenemies. Whatever the case, it’s probably because you’re known as a fountain pen person. But, forgive-and-forget isn’t your style; you believe it’s better to get even than get mad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, let’s start with pen options. If your dear friend<\/em> is budget-conscious, suggest the Noodler’s Ahab. There are so many delightful color options, and we all know the flex nib is to die for. On top of that, the delightful smell is so well-known, it may as well be advertised as a feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your friend<\/em> wants to splurge, then you can suggest the Montegrappa Fortuna. The wide threads with only a few turns allow for a lot of airflow through the cap, so you don’t ever have to worry about your nib being too wet. Really, who wants to uncap their pen and write immediately? Part of the fountain pen charm is having to get the ink flowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ink<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, with a fountain pen, you need ink. With the Noodler’s pen, it makes sense to have Noodler’s ink. Tchaikovsky is perfect for purple lovers that don’t want anything too bright. The beautiful feathering will let your friend<\/em> truly appreciate the full<\/strong> range of ink properties. If they’re looking for other colors, Diamine’s Inkvent scented inks will certainly complement the Ahab perfume, without compromising on the pretty feathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, maybe your dear friend<\/em> prefers finer lines. Offer Baystate Blue. And be sure they know it’s super<\/strong> easy to clean up, thereby making it great for beginners who are more likely to make messes as they get used to filling pens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you really<\/em> want to wow them, then Organics Studio Nitrogen is a good recommendation. The bold sheen will really catch their attention, and they’ll have ample opportunities to show off the color on their fingertips as they turn pages. It’s also perfect for drier pens like the Montegrappa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paper<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, you need to make sure your dear friend<\/em> knows that fountain pens require special paper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they prefer notebooks, Leuchtturm1917 and Moleskine are both amazing options. After all, you want to make sure your friend<\/em> can truly appreciate the ink, and what better way than to see it on both sides of the paper?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they prefer a binder-type system, then Kokuyo loose-leaf dot grid paper will give them the same fabulous experience as the Leuchtturm and Moleskine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pen Case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, you may want to suggest a pen case. You want to make it as easy as possibly for your friend<\/em> to carry their pens, since fountain pens already take some getting used to. So make sure to recommend a soft-sided case they can throw in a purse or bag. After all, all that matters is that your pen is easy-to-find, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They’ll appreciate knowing that any cute case on Amazon will do. Perhaps you should mention that pale colors are traditional so that pens can really stand out when you open the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now your dear friend<\/em> is ready to buy themselves the perfect beginner’s fountain pen kit. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a few laughs as they “get used to it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
