For the first time, she’s attending West Lake Prep, a regular high school. Well, mostly regular. Some students are actually hidden members of the Magicorum. In other words, they’re really wizards, fairies, or shifters. Bry doesn’t mind, though. She’s thrilled to enjoy all the new experiences of being around normal kids her age, from locker pranks to lunchtime mystery meat. Everything is going along great, except for one thing.

Bry’s dreams about the pyramids of Egypt have gotten darker and more sinister. Every night, she sees her new man Knox and her best friend Elle in danger.

With no other choice, Bry plans to leave school to explore the pyramids on her own. But her new man Knox discovers the scheme and is having none of it. He wants to stay by her side, no matter what. It’s a good thing too, because Bry must solve the mystery of her attraction to the pyramids and soon. Otherwise, it could cost the lives of those she loves most.

And that means not only Knox, but also her best friend Elle.

Review

Shifters and Glyphs was pretty good. Several plot lines that I’d been suspecting for the past two books turned out to be true, and there were a few twists along the way as well.

I’m still not certain how Reggie fits in to the series. I’d like to know more of his story. I’d also like to know more of Ty’s story, so I’m hoping she gets her own set of books later, or at least a novella.

I feel, once again, as though we’re missing parts of the story. We don’t get to see Bry’s friends’ reactions to finding out she’s a Trilorum. I would think that’s a major revelation, seeing as they’re very rare. Nor do we get to find out what happens with Azizi. I know there will be more books, but since the next one switches to an Elle focus, I’d have thought we’d get more info on Az in this one.

Click here if you’re OK reading some major spoilers.

Finding out Bry was the fountain didn’t surprise me. I’d suspected that since the first book. Finding out she was born of magic was a surprise, though. I’d assumed Colonel Mallory was her father by blood and we’d eventually find out who her mother is.However, learning that she just appeared next to the geyser one day, I can’t help but wonder if the geyser needs to be guarded for the next five thousand years to ensure the next fountain is “born” safely.

Elle being revealed as the warden of Fae magic was a nice confirmation as well. I’d suspected it based on her being “mobbed” by the other fae students and receiving tributes from them. But they story related to it makes me wonder how many things Colonel Mallory has stuck his nose into over his lifetime.

I’d hoped Bry would somehow maintain her Trilorum status, or, even better, that she and Elle would regain their wings (and their original appearances) as part of the bounty ceremony. It was a little disappointing that they didn’t. Although I suppose I should just be happy magic is safe and that Bry and her wolf are still alive.

The origin of the Shadowvin was interesting and unexpected, although I suppose it shouldn’t have been. Finding out the Void is good was also a surprise to me. I think I may have been too focused on Bry and her friends to see the clues.

Overall, I was pleased with the book, although I’m left with more questions than answers. I can only hope that we’ll get answers in the next book of the series.

Giveaway

a Rafflecopter giveaway

About the Author

Christina Bauer knows how to tell stories about kick-ass women.
