When Elizabeth receives the news concerning Lydia’s elopement with Mr. Wickham, Mr. Darcy proposes a plan to divert gossip away from Elizabeth’s younger sister in order to save her from a life as Mrs. Wickham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This humorous variation on Pride and Prejudice follows Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet on a rather unexpected adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Review<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fitzwilliam Darcy Elopes<\/em> (FDE<\/em>) was a fun read. Essentially, Mr. Darcy suggests he and Elizabeth elope to deflect gossip away from Lydia’s stupid decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story offers a much more satisfying conclusion to Lydia’s elopement than the original, including giving her a chance for some character growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wish it had been a bit longer to see Elizabeth and Darcy’s married life at Pemberly and their reunion with Georgiana after their adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I noticed a handful of errors throughout the book, and, honestly, it’s right on the edge of taking off a star. But I so enjoyed the story that I’m going to let it slide. The errors weren’t prevalent enough to distract me from the story, in any case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FDE<\/em> is such a fun, light read. Anyone who liked the original Pride and Prejudice<\/em> is likely to enjoy this version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Beth Wood has the rare distinction of being born in a town that no longer exists. She doesn’t remember anything about Playas, New Mexico since she was a toddler when her family moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She spent much of her youth in small towns throughout the west (except for an 11 month residence in Tucson, AZ when she was in Elementary School).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2003 she married, and has since set a record of living in one town for over 7 1\/2 years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beth first fell in love with Jane Austen while reading “Pride and Prejudice” as a sophomore in high school. It wasn’t until she was staying at home with her children (several years later) that she decided to add her voice to the many variations of “Pride and Prejudice” available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
