\n\nWe all know what Lizzy and Darcy did last summer\u2026 Or do we?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This variation on Jane Austen\u2019s beloved Pride and Prejudice asks two questions about the summer before Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy\u2019s introduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if Elizabeth visited Pemberley before meeting Darcy, and was prepared to think the best of him, rather than the worst? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if Georgiana Darcy stayed home from Ramsgate, and Wickham\u2019s dastardly schemes had not yet been revealed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The answer: An ardent, inevitable love story that unfolds quite differently\u2026 but is, in essentials, very much what it ever was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Review<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ardently Yours<\/em> was an interesting take on Pride and Prejudice<\/em>, flipping two important events in the timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was interesting how Ms. Wright adjusted well-known events, like Mr. Darcy’s first proposal, to suit the altered storyline. The adjustments were well-done and fit in with new storyline created. I very much enjoyed the alterations to Jane and Mr. Bingley’s story arc, as happy characters make for better stories (in my opinion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While well-written, Ardently Yours<\/em> didn’t resonate quite so strongly with me as some of the other Pride and Prejudice<\/em> variations I’ve read recently. I found it easy to set aside,and was unbothered by interruptions to my reading. Ardently Yours<\/em> is worth reading, but not a book I’d press on someone as amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Evangeline Wright first fell in love with Pride and Prejudice<\/em> as a teenager, and she never looked back. In her senior yearbook, she listed Elizabeth Bennet as her most admired person, and Fitzwilliam Darcy has owned her heart for the mumblety-some years since. She lives in California with her family, some cats, an awful lot of books, and a Jane Austen action figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
