Charlotte Lucas knows this better than anyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Collins is Charlotte’s last chance at becoming a wife, but when he leaves Meryton without proposing, Charlotte is determined not to let this last opportunity pass her by. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The greatest challenge to Charlotte’s changes isn’t securing an invitation to Rosings Park, battling Lizzy’s temper, overcoming Lady Catherine’s unfathomable disapproval, or even Mr. Darcy’s odd behavior: it’s the distracting presence of Colonel Fitzwilliam. The man is neither handsome nor charming, but he’s honest and clever, which are enough to tease Charlotte with romantic notions that have never troubled her before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It was great seeing Charlotte get fleshed out and given her own unique story. The author did an excellent job of making Charlotte’s opinions and beliefs more easily understandable. Charlotte’s opinions alter in a very natural way. She reconsiders them as she receives more information, then decides whether they need to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lady Catherine’s disregard for others and Mr. Collins’ chauvinistic condescension were both increased in Miss Lucas<\/em>. However, it was done in a believable manner, keeping them true to their Pride and Prejudice<\/em> originals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, it was an enjoyable book, and incredibly satisfying to see Charlotte get a happy ending. I’d definitely recommend it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Forgive her, but AV Knight is terrible at introducing herself. Miss Lucas is her first novel, and she wrote it when she was supposed to be working on her dissertation. AV lives out west with her vegetable garden and book collection. She writes historical, modern, and supernatural romances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
