Yep, it’s another adaptation from YouTube; is anyone surprised? Honestly, the YouTube makeup world has some great year-end round-up ideas. This one comes from Angelica Nyqvist<\/a>‘s video 10 Palettes I ALMOST Bought Recently (but then DIDN’T)<\/a>. But, back to this post. The idea is pretty self-explanatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what pens did I almost buy, and what kept me from purchasing them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Aurora 88 Mount Fuji<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I saw this pen on Instagram<\/a>, I had a moment of NEED<\/strong>!!!! But then I saw the price. That really put the brakes on for me. I made myself take some time to evaluate the purchase, figuring it would take some time for such an expensive pen to sell out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think a day or two later, I saw a comment on the original post about how the Fuji was sold out. While I had a moment of “oh, ok,” I wasn’t particularly disappointed. And that told me that it wasn’t something I would love to own. Turns out, it wasn’t sold out, but I’m glad I decided against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora Caleidoscopio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This line caught my eye starting with the Blu<\/a>. I went back and stared at the Blu several times on Instagram. In person, though the blue and purple weren’t a perfect match for me. I think I wanted<\/em> to like it more than I actually liked it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the Gialla<\/a> came out, it was, again, very pretty on Instagram, but it didn’t do it for me in person. The red seemed splotchy on the yellow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the Verde<\/a> came out. It’s stunning online and in person. But \u2014 big but \u2014 the color is so pale and translucent that the nib housing and piston mechanism are visible<\/a>. Definitely not something I like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Bianca<\/a> really calls to me, but it looks as though it will have the same “visible innards” issue the Verde has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora Internazionale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I very seriously considered getting a green Internazionale<\/a>. It’s a gorgeous pen. I managed to talk myself out of it, then a blue one<\/a> showed up on Virtual Pen Show for $625. It was a little harder to talk myself out of that one, but I managed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iron Feather Creative Inlaid Hummingbird<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This one<\/a> was at the DC Pen Show. The only<\/em> reason I didn’t get it is that I picked up the Art Deco Nibs<\/a>. I came very<\/strong> close to buying both but held myself back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visconti Dual Touch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I actually started planning how I could pay for this pen \u2014 the Cognac version<\/a>. It’s beautiful and unique, two things I look for in additions to my collection. But it’s expensive, and the more I’ve looked at it, the more I feel like I don’t need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visconti Ember<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I still want this pen<\/a>, I really do. What stops me is that, for the same price \u2014 possibly less \u2014 I can get an ARTUS pen. It’s hard to justify spending so much for the Ember given the amazing pens I could get for the same amount of money. I know I shouldn’t compare, but to me, the ARTUS pens are so much more spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visconti Homo Sapiens Lava Color Inferno<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The red one \u2014 the Inferno<\/a> \u2014 attracted me from the moment it was announced. But I noticed that the color looked different in every photo, everything from bright red to a brownish, mahogany-ish color. When I finally saw it in person, I was underwhelmed. It wasn’t the bright red I’d hoped for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
