When the Wild Rose was first announced, I didn’t plan to get it. I’m not big on pink, and, as I’m trying to limit my pen acquisitions this year, it seemed silly to get it “just because.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when I found out the material includes rose petals and heart-shaped glitter, I decided to get it. I pre-ordered from Pen Chalet and requested either #19 or #69 if they got either one. I was lucky enough to get pen #69.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I have a holy grail of pens, a Valentine’s Day pen numbered 69. On top of that, it was, by sheer coincidence, my 214th pen. So I can’t get rid of it. Ever. Well, unless someone offers me an obscene amount of money for it. But, enough backstory, you’re here for a review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

So, Review It Already!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First of all, this pen is VERY pink. The promo photos did not adequately convey just how pink it is. It’s neon! I think the best way to describe it is Pepto Bismol (the opaque sections) mixed with Barbie pink (the translucent sections).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Meh<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With as powerfully pink the Wild Rose is, I’m not in love with it. But that’s a case of personal preference. I’m sure there are plenty of people who would adore a Barbie pink pen. However, I would have expected a color more in keeping with real wild roses. Something less vibrant than what it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we’re on the topic of the material, I don’t like how the lighter pink is opaque while the rest is translucent or transparent. On my pen, it results in hard edges and what look like holes in the material. It’s hardly the end of the world, but I feel it’s worth mentioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Interesting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When I read “made with real wild rose petals” in Luxury Brands of America<\/a>‘s Instagram Reel<\/a>, I assumed that there would be visible pieces of rose petal in the material. However, once the Wild Rose arrived, I could clearly see that there aren’t any rose petals. So, I did some research and found out that the whole Talisman line has powders infused into the resin<\/a>. Of course, finding that our increased my desire to own the Mandrake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Good<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Schmidt nib is just as good as my Briolette’s nib, very smooth and wet. I’d expected the Wild Rose to write well, and I’m not disappointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also adore the heart glitter. It’s fabulous \u2014 completely on “brand” for a Valentine’s Day pen \u2014 and the smaller, golden flecks are great touches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
