It’s not always easy since a conflicted heart wants different things on different days, but she finds a way to work around her indecisiveness and focus on what she needs- what she thinks she can’t live without.

The closer Amelia gets to figuring out her love life, the more Hawk unravels. While he deals with loose ends and new threats, his strategic plans start to fall into place. Pawns advance, the King’s in the ideal position and the Rook hosts the Mad Lib Auction. What he doesn’t expect is for his Queen to be in danger and for Knights to steal hearts.

Review

There’s a definite evolution in Sonya Jesus’ writing between Knights After My Heart (KAMH) and Knights Who Stole My Heart (KWSMH). In the first book, half of the time I wanted to slap Lia, and most of the other half, I wanted to punch Robins or Connor in the face. Having spoken to Sonya, this is what she was going after, so, good job there.

I feel like you get a better, more intimate, look into Lia’s head in KWSMH, so I can better relate to her internal struggle between her Angel and Vixen. I connected with her more, so I had less of an inclination to slap her silly. I really felt for the pressure she faces from all of the men in her life (several of whom are complete dicks), and I think most women, and probably a good deal of men, will related to it as well.

KWSMH has some fun, light-hearted moments, and continued the silly, adolescent/young adult problems that we all face that featured so prominently in KAMH. However, KWSMH also goes to some very dark, and somewhat unexpected, places.

Beyond the romance, there are some great elements of mystery woven into the narrative. You get more information about Hawk, and about Lia’s prankster. The two mysteries are expertly (IMHO) worked into the story, almost adding a “whodunnit” feel to the book that kept me thinking. The AHA! payoff at the end is great as well, as is the “Holy Crap!” moment that Sonya ends the book with.

Poor Lia is in for a rough journey in book 3, but I’m eagerly awaiting that installment. I highly recommend this book, this whole series, really, to anyone who enjoys romance or mystery books.

About Sonya Jesus

Who am I?

Basically, I’m a fiction writing science nerd, who balances Ph.D. work with my imagination. I love the way writing fiction liberates my mind and allows me the freedom to be creative. A large portion of my time is devoted to turning dreams into reality and the other portion to loving and embracing life. When I’m not writing or trying to investigate the inner workings of the microbial world, I’m either binge watching Netflix, reading on my Kindle or painting. That or I’m either pretending to be a Master Chef with my husband, playing with my 5 dogs, or talking to my family and friends.

Why do I write?

My mind is a hotel and way too many characters live there. They slam doors, fall in love, blow things up and murder each other. Avoiding them usually results in multiple temper tantrum, slamming doors and silent treatments that inevitably results in writer’s block. So, I listen to them and share their stories.

You can find Sonya Jesus on her website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Goodreads.

Disclaimer: This review is based on a complimentary eBook ARC I received from Sonya Jesus.
