Evocative Pens

Posted in Fountain Pens

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, but it kept getting pushed back. So, some of these pens are rather old at this point. However, the premise still holds true: all of these pens remind me of of other, non-pen, items.

Please note: I’ve borrowed all of these images, they are not mine. Each image links to the page where I found it. In the future, some of the links likely won’t work.

I’m listing these in alphabetical order.

Montblanc Muses Elizabeth Taylor

To be 100% honest, I have no idea how this pen is inspired by jewelry. I see two things:

  1. The SFW version is a door knocker.
  2. The NSFW version is a nipple ring. I was good and didn’t include a photo so no one will get in trouble. You’re welcome. Commend me on my restraint. *grin*

Montegrappa Tutankhamun

I realize that no one would want to write with a pen that looks like it has multi-thousand-year-old wrappings. However, with the nice, clean wrappings, it closely resembles a skein of chunky yarn.

Pineider Psycho

The intricate design on this pen brings to mind the gorgeously complex exterior of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Tibaldi Bamboo

Nope, this doesn’t make me think of a stalk of bamboo. Rather, this delightful little pen reminds me both of a nipple tassel and — when the pen is uncapped — a fez.

Visconti Homo Sapiens Demo Stones

I know there are people who love these, so this may be controversial. But, come on, they’re unwrapped Jolly Ranchers, especially the grape!

Visconti Iopenna

At first, I thought the “tail” was poseable. However, once I discovered that it’s… wiggly, all I can see is a sticky hand.

Thanks for reading to the end, I hope you enjoyed my post. Do you agree with me on any of these? What pens remind you of something else? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.

As an architect, I specifically bought the Psycho because of its design. I personally think it looks like a space frame ( think interior of the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space museum. Personally, I like the evocative pens. Good article!
