To be completely transparent, I’ve been feeling a bit disenchanted with the 100° Anniversario since Aurora released the Duca. I don’t like that a pen as special as this one — developed as the company’s signature 100th anniversary pen — has been “copied-and-pasted” in blue for a regular release. I’m hoping this post will rekindle my love for it.
As the findings are sterling silver, they’ve tarnished over the past 3.5 years.
So, I asked Jim to polish them up for me. It definitely made a difference.
The filigree design on the silver bands is beautiful.
The “flamé” guilloche pattern is beautiful, catching light in a way that means there’s always both shadow and highlight.
I’m really hoping to fall back in love with the 100° Anniversario, both for aesthetic and practical reasons. Objectively, it’s a beautifully made pen. It’s also the most expensive pen I’ve ever purchased, and I should love it.
Do you have this pen? Do you have the Duca, or one of the other anniversary pens? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.

That’s been on my fav list since the first day I set eyes on it. I know two people, including you who have one and it’s stunning. I love the slight tarnish that makes the details pop.
While collecting old cameras I learned that most rare, old or limited edition this aren’t as special as we would like them to be. I think that might be the case that the 100° year anniversary pen of a unknown brand outside of the pen community isn’t that special. And maybe they are one of the brands that rerelease limited editions when they see it was a hit because money. 🤷🏻♀️
Also, Ive seen pen companies being very loose with their definition of their anniversaries, just so they can release more pens. 50 years since the brand started, 45 since the line X started, 40 since the brand changed its name… idk.
