Update 12/27/22: Thank you so much to those who have purchased pens! It’s truly appreciated.
I’ve had some pens for sale at Bertram’s Inkwell for a little while. I appreciate how easy Bert makes his consignment process. Under normal circumstances, I’m in no hurry to sell pens. They sell when they sell. That said, we’ve had something come up.
Athena’s Story
If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve likely seen posts of our “outdoor” girl, Athena. She was once a feral kitten, and came to us for help when she was about 6 months old. She was outside our garage, meowing at us. And she never really left.
We can only assume something happened to her mom. We’d seen Athena, her mom, and her sister around the neighborhood, then, one day, mom was gone, leaving Athena and her sister to fend for themselves.
Her sister didn’t warm up to us the way Athena did. And, after she had a littler of kittens, took them up the hill to the next street over where a house cares for local outdoor/feral cats.
Over the years, Athena went from a feral cat to an outdoor cat, to our outdoor cat. We had her chipped in February, so if she ever got picked up, she’d come back to us.
In October, Athena got another eye infection (nothing terribly surprising for an outdoor cat). However, this time it didn’t go away well, even after medication. Since then, she’s been in and out of the vet and hospital as we try to figure out what’s wrong.
Diagnosis
On Thursday (12/22), we finally got a diagnosis for her. She has “dry” Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). On one hand, it’s good to have a diagnosis after so long, as it gives us a road to follow. On the other, FIP has been considered fatal until very recently.
There is a long treatment — 84 days of injections — available from Europe, but it hasn’t been approved by the FDA. Because of this, it’s expensive. But, as anyone with furbabies will understand, they’re worth it.
Get to the Point
I know, that was a LONG intro. But, now I get to my point. IF you’re considering buying any of the pens I have for sale at Bertram’s Inkwell (listed/linked below), it would be a huge help if you’d by the ones I’m selling. Every little bit helps, right? I’ll probably be selling some more pens, soon, but I haven’t decided yet which ones.
I’m not asking you to buy a pen you don’t want. Please don’t do that. Our financial situation isn’t dire. It’s just helpful to have some extra money to offset costs.
I’d also really appreciate if you could share this post with friends who you know are looking for pens. Maybe something I have for sale is something they’re looking for.
In alphabetical order, here are the pens I have for sale:
