Hello, welcome to the fourth post of 25 Days of Dupes 2022. Below you’ll find the inks for days 19-25. If you have a suggestion for a possible dupe, let me know in the comments, and I’ll add it to the wrap up post.
Some reminders:
- The first image for each ink shows the inkvent ink and what I feel is the best match, swatched on Tomoe River paper.
- The second image for each ink shows the inkvent ink and the different inks I tried matching it to, swatched on Iroful paper.
- I swatched ink with a small paintbrush, and wrote with a Zebra G dip nib in the first image.
- I can’t guarantee that the color you see on your screen will be true to life. However, with all the dupes on the same page, you’ll see how the colors look in relation to each other, which is the main point of these posts.
- I’m not attempting to dupe the special properties of the inks (sheen, shimmer, scent).
Enjoy, and happy inking!
Day 19: Silent Night
Silent Night is a standard ink; it’s a classic-looking blue/black, but was surprisingly hard to dupe. I did manage to find a near-perfect match in Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite in the end.
Day 20: Arctic Blast
Arctic Blast is another one of the new “formulas,” a chameleon and sheen ink; it’s a royal blue with pale blue shimmer and a pink sheen. Like Olive Swirl, Arctic Blast has a low shimmer density; I can’t see any color shift at all.
Like Pick Me Up, Arctic Blast immediately reminded me of a previous inkvent ink, this time Jack Frost (2019 Inkvent). Literally the only visible difference is that Jack Frost has a deeper blue shimmer. And, if you want the color and sheen but not shimmer, go for Diamine Polar Glow (2019 Inkvent).
Day 21: Cosy Up
Cosy Up (English spelling) is a standard ink; it’s a bubblegum pink. The best match I found is Private Reserve Shell Pink, although Diamine Pink Champagne seems fairly close, too.
Day 22: Deck the Halls
Deck The Halls is another one of the new “formulas,” a chameleon ink; it’s a desaturated deep purple with pink to copper (maybe) shimmer. It’s difficult to find the color shift on this one, too. Diamine Damson is an excellent color match.
Day 23: Celebration
Celebration is a shimmer ink; it’s a coral with nearly invisible rose gold or pink shimmer. Birmingham Pen Company’s Salmon Hors d’Oeuvre is the best match. However, since that ink has been discontinued, I chose the almost-as-close J. Herbin Corail des Tropiques as the best match.
Day 24: One More Sleep
One More Sleep is a “standard” ink, but it’s actually a multishader; it has quite a bit of pink in the cornflower blue. This one was virtually impossible to dupe. The closest I found was Sailor Ink Studio 343, but it’s significantly darker.
Day 25: Best Wishes
And we reach the final day. Best Wishes doesn’t say what formula it is. It has shimmer, so it’s either shimmer or chameleon, and it has shee, but some of the other inks had sheen without being labeled as such. For labeling purposes, I’m going to say it’s a new “formula,” a chameleon and sheen ink, because we’ve only had one of those.
It’s an evergreen with green shimmer. I don’t see a color shift, though, so maybe I should have just called it a shimmer. Both inks I tried are excellent color matches, but I picked Diamine Dark Forest as the best match.
Thanks for reading to the end, I hope you enjoyed my post. What do you think of this week’s colors and dupes? Are there any you’ll want to get later, or do you already have some of the dupe inks? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
