Becoming Mr. BingleySeries: Ditching Mr. Darcy, Book 2
Genres: Classical Re-write, Historical Fiction

Pages: 402

My Rating: ★★★★☆

Letting the man of her dreams go would have been much harder had he been a real person. Living happily ever after with her soul mate would be much easier if reality was as uncomplicated as her dreams. And for Elizabeth Baker, the future would be much clearer if the lines between dreams and reality were not blurring yet again.

Review

Becoming Mr. Bingley (BMB), while ultimately a good book, was a train wreck of a story. One bad thing after another barrles its way into Elizabeth’s life at times when she’s completely unequipped to handle them.

Ultimately, BMB is an excellent example of why it’s so important to maintain an open line of communication in relationships. Elizabeth makes far too many assumptions and believes just about anything anyone tells her, except Charlie.

It’s also a great example of everything that can go wrong if you put others’ needs before your own. You can find yourself in incredibly awkward, or even dangerous, situations.

My biggest issue with BMB is that every time Elizabeth seems to have made a breakthrough, she doesn’t act on it. It’s like she immediately forgets what she’s just realized and continues on as before.

However, if you’re OK reading a book that’s a bit depressing for 2/3, but redeems itself with a happy ending, then I certainly recommend BMB.

About the Author

Samantha Whitman is an avid Jan Austen fan living in sunny Florida with her amazing husband, five amazing kids, Chloe the Chihuahua and Pearl the “white devil” Persian cat. She loves to dance like nobody’s watching (and embarrass her kids in the process), sing karaoke, and spend time at the beach. A few of her favorite things are trips to Disney with her family, the color gold, Star Wars, dark chocolate, Fall, loud music, hot tea, Marvel movies, and tacos — but her absolute favorite thing is to make people laugh.
