Per usual, you can click on the images to view them larger. I do my best to provide you with high-quality pen porn. 😉

I’ve wanted one of Eric Sands‘ raden-esque pens for years. I’d hoped to request a commission, only to discover, once I finally asked, that he was no longer accepting them. Several times after that, I saw a pen that I would have liked, but I was always too slow to get it.

Finally, last year, Jim and I made it to the San Francisco Pen Show. The Atelier Lusso table was my second stop of the show, and I was able to snag this beauty. Clearly, I’m WAY behind on my pen porn posts, and I desperately need to catch up.

As always, when I include one, let’s start with the 360° views.

The Metalwork

The trim is all in bronze, with, per Eric himself, a “shredded” bronze clip. The texture on the clip is quite nice.

The Materials

But, honestly, the star of this pen is the materials. The shell — Rose Pink and Seafoam Awabi — and the resins — Ghost Wasabi with a Ghost Pink center band — are beautifully matched. I did my best to catch the shifting colors in the awabi — AKA abalone — but photos really don’t do this pen justice.

Final Thoughts

While the Taurus is larger than the pens I usually buy, I’m so happy I was able to add this one to my collection. It’s truly a masterpiece.
