Stationery Wishlist Tag

Posted in Fountain Pens, and Stationery

It’s been over a month since my last tag post, almost 2 months if you don’t count my resolutions post from January. Which means it’s definitely time for another. Per usual, I adapted this tag from the makeup world. This post is inspired by Angelica Nyqvist‘s video The Makeup Wishlist Tag | Indie Palettes & Boujee Gems. In that video, they credit Drea CN with creating the tag.

1. What is the next stationery item you’re planning to buy?

This is difficult. I currently have three commissions in the works, one pen on hold with a good friend, and a commission I want to get started. I don’t know when to expect any of the commissions to be ready. That said, BWIPS is only 2 weekends away, and I have 2 nib appointments already scheduled. So, I’m assuming my next purchased will be a nib grind, a nib to grind, or ink.

2. What one item would you buy if you had an unlimited budget today.

I was initially tempted to say I’d get the Namiki Emperor Goldfish, but I don’t think I’d enjoy writing with a pen so large. So, instead, I’d find a Namiki Yukari Hummingbird.

3. What pen has been on your wish list the longest?

Probably the 18111 Sakura in either pink or blue. I kept putting it off because it’s a second-tier interest. I’m trying to determine how much I want it, especially with Mr. Nakama planning to return to Japan, if he hasn’t already.

4. What pen has been on your wish list the least amount of time?

Technically, the Cypress Eggshell Raden Plumped Grapes, but I only saw it this past Monday, and I’m not 100% sure yet that it will stay on my wish list.

5. What ink is at the top of your “to try” list

There are always new inks coming out, and many of them make it onto my list because I want to have them for dupes. That said, at the moment, I’m trying to get a sample of Birmingham Pen Co Sugar Kelp to see how close it is to my beloved, discontinued, Birmingham Pen Co Rodman Gun Gunpowder Tea.

6. Which annual release are you most interested to see this year?

I’m eager to see the Pelikan M200/205 release — the one that matches their ink of the year. Since it will be orange, I’m curious to see how similar it will be to Sailor’s Too Hot Habanero from 2021.

7. Is there a standard release you haven’t gotten yet because “it’ll be available later?”

I’m still debating getting the Pilot Custom 74 in Blue Stone. I like the color, but I already have one of each nib readily available on the transparent 74s (EF, F, M) that I enjoy using. I suppose I could get one and have a grind applied.

8. Do you currently have a grail pen?

Yes, although I doubt I’ll ever be able to find one I can afford. I’d love to own the Namiki Yukari Hummingbird.

9. Is there a stationery item you’re waiting for your birthday or anniversary to ask for?

Yes and no. I asked my dad for one of the Stanford Pen Studio Intwana pens from their Thundafund campaign at the end of last year for my birthday. They’re expecting to have the pens delivered by April, and, conveniently, my birthday is the 19th. My dad surprised me by telling me to pick two instead of just one. So, yes, in that I already asked for it, and no, in that I don’t have anything else I’m waiting on a gift giving occasion to ask for.

10. Is there any stationery product you want that isn’t readily available in your area?

It would be nice if more of the Mini 5 binder items were available in the USA. While there is a selection from a few companies, I’ve seen many more on Japanese-only websites, and it’s a bit of a pain to order for delivery to me.

11. Is there any storage product on your wish list?

In theory, yes. I’m still looking for my idea of a perfect pen case, and I would love if Rickshaw could do a version of their Banzai/Bento bag lined with cushy pen slots.

12. If there was a stationery genie, what would your three wishes be?

Assuming, of course, that the genie wasn’t one to twist wishes, wish number 1 would be for a mint condition Namiki Yukari Hummingbird with box and papers, F nib — do I sound like a broken record yet?

Wish 2 would be to enchant my ink storage cabinet so that any empty ink bottle put in would refill with its original ink. No more running out of limited edition inks!

Wish 3 is harder. I don’t know if I’d choose paper or storage. On the one hand, I’d love for my perfect paper to exist — something similar to Rhodia Goalbook with white paper — but, on the other, I’d also love for my perfect pen case to exist, or to have a wall-mounted display for my best pens. Tough choices.

I’d probably go with the paper, because for the other two, I could technically get them made if I really wanted to.

Do me a favor and answer a question or two in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.

Living in a condo at the moment, I can think of one wish for the stationery genie – a Tardis-like piece of furniture that is bigger on the inside to store all my fountain pen/ink stuff as well as my washi tapes/stickers neatly and with easy access.

    • That’s an excellent wish! Additional points for a second wish that fills it with stationery goodies!
