My Current Pen Wish List — Jan. 2022

Posted in Fountain Pens

Well, it’s time to revisit my wish list. I’ve bought some pens, decided against others, and found new pens I want. My wish list still isn’t the longest it’s ever been, so I suppose that’s a good thing.

I’ve split my list into two: the “Tier One” that I’m actively looking to acquire, and “Tier Two” that I’d pick up if there’s a good deal, or if the stars align perfectly.

Updates

Updates to last year’s list first. If you don’t care about updates, feel free to jump down to my current list. For those pens still on my list, I’ll share more about them on my current list.

Laban

I took a look at the Laban pens at the DC Pen Show. While they’re pretty, and I’m sure I’d like them, they didn’t call to me, and I’m trying hard to only buy pens that I know will make me happy to own, and I’m not 100% positive the Laban pens will do that.

Pilot

I bought the Rock Garden at DC. It’s fabulous. I adore the way it writes.

The Falcon and Custom 74 are still on my list.

Den’s Pens

Dennis was kind enough to work with me to create a custom material, and now I’ve got a fabulous “Amethyst” Crystal Pen. Check that off the list.

Gravitas Pens

I picked up the Rose Gold Skull special edition second hand at the DC Pen Show. Check that off the list.

Hardy Penwrights

Still on my list.

Hooligan Pens

Still on my list.

Iron Feather Creative

Still on my list.

Loft Pens

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you’ve seen the amazingly awesome rainbow pen that Loft Pens made for me.

Practical Pens

I’ve decided against getting one of the 3D printed pens. While they’re super cool, I question if one would bring me joy long-term. I think I may like the idea of them more than the pens themselves.

Schon Design

I’m not writing off Schon Design, but unless a hammered stainless steel version is made, I don’t think I’ll be getting one. The pens are too small and light for my personal tastes.

Stanford Wood Studio

Still on my list.

So that’s my update on last year’s list. Now for my current wish list.

Wish List 2022

While I divided last year’s list by mainstream and indie, this year I’m going to put everything in alphabetical order, and divide it by “Tier One” and “Tier Two.”

Tier One

Atelier Lusso

Every time I see one of Eric’s abalone pens, I want one more. So I’m going to try to snag one this year.

Benu

Looks like I’ve been living under a rock when it comes to Benu releases. While looking for a photo of the Luminous Amber to links to, I found out about the Talisman Mandrake, the Talisman Wild Rose, and the Ambrosia collection — specifically the Persian Shield and Blue Lotus. Benu really makes some beautiful pens.

Hardy Penwrights

I talked to Mr. Hardy about a Dutch pen at the DC Pen Show. While he’s open to working on such a pen, I haven’t had enough time to properly research elements. Mea culpa.

Hooligan Pens

A winter or snowflake pen similar to this one to house my PenBBS snowflake nib is still on my list. Maybe this year.

Iron Feather Creative

I’m still on the ever insanely busy Mr. Weaver’s queue. I did buy another pen from him, though. It’s so pretty.

Loft Pens

No, this isn’t a mistake. Loft Pens is back on my wish list. I love my rainbow one so much, I plan to commission a second stacked pen from them.

Mr. Cypress

Yeah, I want another Mr. Cypress pen. How could I not? I want to get one of the raden & eggshell pens. And, possibly, a painted pen.

Pilot

Since last year, I’d changed my mind and planned to get a Custom 74 with an EF nib in Stone Blue. However, I came across a customized one and picked it up instead.

At the same time I picked that one up, I also got a customized Falcon with an SEF nib. Depending on how well I enjoy using it, I may get a second one in the brown metal body.

Rockster Pens

I’d really like to get a Rockster Pens pen, as I love how they mix materials.

Stanford Wood Studio

I’m determined to get a Stanford Wood Studio pen this year. To that end, I’ve already begun the commission process, and I’m very much looking forward to the finished product. Depending on work and shipping time, I may get it right in time for my birthday. How cool would that be?

Tier Two

18111 Pens

I’ve wanted a snowflake pen for a few years now. For a while, I hoped to get a snowflake pen with a custom section so that I could house the snowflake nib in it, but Mr. Nakama stopped taking commissions. This is another case of having a snowflake pen available when I have money. Someday the stars will align and I’ll be able to snag one. I would like to grab a sakura blossom pen as well.

Benu

I’ve wanted one of the luminous pens since the original Blue was released. So far, the Amber is my favorite, but the Dream is pretty nice, too. Perhaps when there is a good sale, I’ll pick it up.

Flower Girl Blanks

This is a little different, but I want a pen made out of one of these blanks. I don’t know if I’ll get one this year, but It’s definitely something I’d like eventually.

Gravitas Pens

Gravitas is on my Tier Two list because I don’t know when Ben will be able to release his black, rainbow glitter pen. I’m going to get one when it comes out, but that could be this year, it could be next year. Who knows.

Pilot

I’m toying with either getting a third Custom 74 with a M nib, or getting one in each color, since there isn’t a large collection. There are 8 more, 9 if I want to chase the Purple. We’ll see.

Tamenuri Studio

I’d love to get more of Michal’s pens. They’re so pretty, and so well done. It’s just going to be difficult to make sure I have money when a pen I want is available.
