Review

NOTE: This review is based on an eBook I borrowed from Amazon as part of the Kindle Unlimited program.

I enjoyed The Grandfather, but it could use a good read-through by an editor. I lost track of how many times the tenses randomly switched for a few paragraphs. I’m guessing that the book was originally written in present tense, then changed to past, and when a new part was written, it didn’t get converted. Outside of that though, I only noticed a handful of minor errors.

I appreciated the original characters and the parts they played in the story.

The typical “villains” — Lady Catherine, Wickham, and Caroline Bingley — all got some kind of comeuppance, with Lady Catherine’s being the lightest.

Elizabeth is the main focus of the story as “the grandfather” in question is hers. We also see quite a bit of Mr. Darcy, Jane and her OC aunt and uncle, and Georgiana. There isn’t anything particularly stellar about The Grandfather, but it’s a nice read.

Notable Quote(s)

Chapter 3: Doubt, Jane, is a chain that keeps me restless; truth, however hard, would at least set me free.
